Prayer is a huge part of life. I have been sober for nearly 3 years now and I have been actively praying for just over 2 years.

I find that by simply doing what the Bible says, I am relieved of many of the anxieties that I suffered from during early sobriety.

Here are some verses of scripture from the Bible that back up what I am saying about prayer. These scriptures are telling you how to pray and what to pray about.  Simple prayers such as ‘Please give me understanding and courage to face whatever comes my way today’ asking God for what you want. asking for healing, asking for peace of mine, asking for an answer to the problems you are experiencing. This has changed my life for sure.

Reading the proverbs is a great place to start if you are not familiar with the Bible. Or even if you need a refresher!

Prayer

“What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24

“But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Jesus – Mark 11:22

“Thank God, for all he does”

“If you need Wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you” James 1:2

“If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them” Jesus – Matthew 18:19

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16
