Books – Read Them To Stay Sober, Educated and Entertained

By Madison

I can’t say enough good things about books, I think that they are one of the best things man has created. There is a book about everything, thanks to all those who create them.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to books at a very young age, because of this I have always been a keen reader. Since I quit drinking, books have been a life saver for me. I have consumed dozens of them. As much as I enjoy fiction, I have mainly stayed away from it. Instead I have been reading mainly about self development, success stories, spirituality and of course alcoholism.

When I stopped drinking, I was at a loss and I had a million questions about everything. I did not go to AA so I did not have the group or sponsor experience to help guide me. To be honest, I didn’t want to go to AA so I sought out books that helped me find some of the answers that I was looking for.

If you are not a keen reader, just try taking a trip to the bookstore and spend some time looking around. You will soon find that certain titles just jump out at you and your interest will be piqued by a title that you notice. It is so worth it. Books have educated me far more than anything else during this journey and I thoroughly recommend them to you if you are serious about quitting drinking, staying sober and recreating a rich and fulfilling life for yourself.

I will be posting a list of recommended reading soon, these are books that I have read and found useful.

You might find me repeating myself about books throughout my posts, they are essential! If you can’t read, get audio books.

Feel free to let me know what books you recommend and share how they have helped you.

 - I just wanted to include a link to an interesting website which is all about networking for avid readers. It gives great book reviews, talks about the latest books and you can also see what your friends are reading and recommending.
