Welcome to Recovery Princess;
A blog dedicated to Alcohol Sobriety and Useful Resources since 2008
This website is all about How To Quit Drinking And Enjoy Sobriety! It is a mixture of my personal recovery journey, links to resources I come across, guest posts and more, this site becomes more diverse as I progress through life sober.
After spending the last 17 years under the spell of alcohol I have found the strength to kick the habit and get sober.
Among other alcohol related subjects, Recovery Princess will chart the journey through my first year of sobriety. I will share all the useful information that I come across that will help to inspire you throughout your own journey of sobriety.
I have just passed 10 weeks 16 weeks 22 weeks 28 32
36 weeks nearly 3 6 years 7 years of sobriety 8 years of sobriety!
Life has changed much for me since I quit drinking alcohol. I am more confident, excited and passionate about life. I have embarked on a new journey, at times it is difficult but mostly I love it.
I have spent much of sobriety researching the many ways to create a life that you love without using alcohol.
My purpose here at Recovery Princess is to share everything I learn with those who are interested in living a full and rewarding life.
Everything I write here is based on my own life experience and should not be substituted for professional advice.
Good luck with your own journey through sobriety, please return often and leave your comments when you can.
Update: 8/26/15 –
I am excited about some changes that I am making to the Recovery Princess website, so please be patient while I tweak everything.
I am reorganizing the website so that all the posts from my First year of sobriety are easier to find, then I will separate the posts that are more recent. I recognize that most people come across this website looking for help on How to Stop drinking and while there is plenty of that information here, the more recent posts I write are not usually about those early days because I am 7 years sober now! It is time to separate the information and make this website easy for you guys to navigate.
There is so much value in this website, I share everything that has helped me throughout the last seven years as well as things that have made my sobriety more difficult. I urge you to leave comments or email me and sign up for my email newsletter so that I can make this website even more dynamic than it has been.
As I have grown in sobriety, my interests have been varied and many! I love living this way, it feels like I am finally living the way I was meant to, the difference being that I am doing it 25 years later than I should, oh well, better late than never is absolutely my motto. I will share the hobbies and interests I have enjoyed and used to build a fulfilling life, some may appeal to you, others may not, my purpose is to show you that the exploring we do in sobriety is very much a part of our sobriety journey, our minds begin making up for lost time by leading us toward the things that make our heart excited and our mind curious.
I frequently feel that I am living an adventure these days and it still blows my mind that I can truthfully write this. I don’t live in fear, shame or guilt anymore and I love what life has given me now that I am free from alcohol addiction.
Every day is not always a bed of roses but I would say 6 out of 7 days are good each week. I still face obstacles and life goes on but I am far better equipped to handle what comes my way. Life is not a drama anymore, I no longer need to self medicate with alcohol, I don’t need alcohol to have a great time, I laugh, love, and live life with a different outlook now and I want to share it with you in the hope that in some way you may be able to experience the freedom from alcohol that I have been fortunate to experience.
Wherever you are and no matter your situation, I believe that you can change your life for the better, I know this not only because I have been able to achieve this but because of the research I have done over the last near decade. People change for the better and manage addiction successfully everyday, you can be one of them. Sobriety is not a “One Size Fits All”, some people benefit from AA, others go Holistic or spend time in treatment centers, some see doctors, psychologists, or counselors and some take medication while others may write and share their stories like me and this blog. Go through this blog, the archives go back to 2008, it is filled with my first hand experience. Get the help you need and dive in to your new life!

Update 7/7/16 –
My hobbies and interests are endless, it’s crazy! Photography, Web design, App development, Online Marketing, Fitness & Health, Interior Design, and Self-education. I am up to my ears in interesting things, all this coupled with my family and pets, I am a busy but mostly happy mama and most importantly…alcohol free. I plan on spider-webbing this blog so that I can incorporate how you can change and live the life you love too, you will come across affiliate links here and there but only for companies and products that I use and I think will help you in a practical way. 8 years ago, I was pretty clueless about what to do when I wasn’t drinking, I didn’t have a real sense of purpose and I lacked interest in anything that didn’t include alcohol. I am proof that sobriety works.
All the best!
